I don't get the phrase "dead serious".
What exactly is it supposed to mean? That you're so dead, it's serious? Or that you're so serious, you're dead?
This has been GNAWING at my head the whole day and I can't get sleep and I can't think straight and somebodyneedstotellmebeforeIlosemymindcompletely. I'm dead serious.

Death is a serious thingy and no one jokes about it,so when one says that he is "Dead serious" then it means that its very serious.Which means that he/she is so serious that its "Dead serious".

I hope that makes sense !!! :-)

Hi ,

I was reading ur blog posts and found some of them to be wow.. u write well.. Why don't you popularize it more.. ur posts on ur blog ۞ §un§ħøw£® ۞ took my particular attention as some of them are interesting topics of mine too;

BTW I help out some ex-IIMA guys who with another batch mate run www.rambhai.com where you can post links to your most loved blog-posts. Rambhai was the chaiwala at IIMA and it is a site where users can themselves share links to blog posts etc and other can find and vote on them. The best make it to the homepage!

This way you can reach out to rambhai readers some of whom could become your ardent fans.. who knows.. :)

Cheers,

Manvi,

forgive me for replying so late. I know you're still alive because I spoke to you last week.

Personally I think people are too lazy to say Deadly Serious and hence shortened it to dead serious. Nishanth's explanation also makes sense.

Apart from that chk out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Serious

Quite a laugh, really!Am dead serious.
